Leeds United duo Yosuke Ideguchi and Caleb Ekuban are close to sealing moves away from the club as the Whites looks to trim their squad.

The players have not been involved in Marcelo Bielsa's plans since he took over at Elland Road and they both spent last season on loan away from the club.

And, according to reporter Phil Hay, they will be on the move again, with Ideguchi set for a move back to Japan and Ekuban set to secure a permanent move to Trabzonspor, where he spent the previous campaign.

"Ideguchi going back to Gamba Osaka, Ekuban joining Trabzonspor. Should be announced pretty soon."

That means that 22-year-old midfielder Ideguchi is likely to have left Leeds without having played a game for the Yorkshire side. The Japanese international arrived with a decent reputation 18 months ago but he has been out on loan since.

Meanwhile, Ekuban had a similarly underwhelming first experience in England, with the Ghana striker scoring just once in 20 league appearances in the 2017/18 season. He is expected to leave on a permanent basis after a relatively successful time in Turkey over the past 12 months.

The Verdict

These are two examples of the poor recruitment that Leeds have done over the years and the players won't be missed by the Whites support.

Unfortunately, neither made the impact that many hoped and Ideguchi's case he will leave without having played a game.

You would have to say that it's the right decision though as Leeds have improved significantly since Bielsa took over and these players just aren't good enough for where the club want to be.

The departures will reduce the wage bill and they could get a decent fee for Ekuban.
