Leeds United’s controversial owner Massimo Cellino has ruled out selling the club’s talented youngsters – Alex Mowatt, Sam Byram and Charlie Taylor.
The young trio have simply been fundamental to the Yorkshire club this season, and without them they could arguably have been relegated to Sky Bet League One.
Cellino returned to the club after long period away, after being suspended by the Football League for breaching regulations.
He has signalled his intent back at the club after signing up 18-year-old central midfielder Lewis Cook on Monday, something that most Leeds United fans would be have been undoubtedly happy to see.
Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Cellino said: “My hope is for him to stay at Leeds for a long time and continue growing with Mowatt, Byram, Taylor and the others.
“We don’t want to sell.
“My plan for this club is to grow, not to sell our best young players.
“I have a lot of trust in the young players here.
“It is a special place for them and it has been for many years.
“Young players at other clubs say they love their club but they don’t really mean it. Here at Leeds, I can tell they mean it. The club is really in their hearts.
The future of current Leeds United manager Neil Redfearn is uncertain at the moment, with his tenure at the Yorkshire club currently hanging in the balance.
