Cellino, speaking to the club's official website, said: "We have two years to build something together. I myself think that if I am not going to build something, then I am not going to do this job.

"I am a professional. I want to grow something, to farm this team in the right way, and to look in 24 months' time to see how the team will be to try to go to the Premier League."

The Yorkshire club have had a pretty strong start to their 2015/16 Sky Bet Championship campaign, and have so far won twice, drawn five times and lost once.

Cellino has helped the club make a number of strong new additions in the summer transfer window, most notably New Zealand international Chris Wood, who has already shown off his impressive goalscoring abilities.

The Italian continued: "This year, if we get close, maybe we can make the play-offs. But this team has to be built and to grow. It's not ready yet, I don't think. The target is to keep us in the Championship."

Leeds United are currently 11th in the Sky Bet Championship, following a 2-1 win away at MK Dons last Saturday.

The Whites are just a point below the play-offs but face a difficult trip to second placed Middlesbrough on Saturday, who have won their last four league games.
