Leeds United have been given the chance to sign Everton striker Oumar Niasse by the Premier League club, according to the Football Insider.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side are in need of adding to their attacking options this month, after Eddie Nketiah was recalled from his loan spell at Elland Road by Arsenal, meaning the Whites are lacking in cover for Patrick Bamford up front.

The Whites have been linked with a move for Southampton striker Che Adams, and also are reportedly interested in making a potential move for Hull City’s Jarrod Bowen, as Bielsa steps up his attempts to bring in a replacement for Nketiah before the end of the transfer window.

QUIZ: Can you name the last 12 Leeds United No.10s?

Niasse has fallen down the pecking order at Everton behind the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Moise Keane and Richarlison, which has restricted the striker to just a single Premier League appearance so far this term – and with the 29-year-old out of contract in the summer the Toffees are looking to loan him out for the rest of the campaign.

The Verdict

Niasse whilst not Leeds’ first choice target to replace Nketiah, would not be a bad addition at all for the Whites, with the striker offering plenty of work rate  and the ability to press high up the pitch, which is something that Bielsa demands from his attacking players.

The striker has shown that he can score goals when given regular game time in the Premier League for both Everton and during a loan spell with Hull City, although with Bamford clearly Bielsa’s first choice it could prove a challenge for him to force his way into the side.

Were Leeds to miss out on their main targets before the end of the window, a move for Niasse would be a useful alternative, and still ensure that the Whites are not left short of options up front were Bamford to suffer any injury problems.
