Oliver Norwood is not expected to arrive at Leeds United this summer unless something changes within the next 24 hours.

Leeds have been looking at Norwood as a potential midfielder they could bring on board, but the Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder doesn’t look like he will be arriving at Elland Road.

According to Phil Hay from the Yorkshire Evening Post, unless something changes in the next 24 hours, it is looking unlikely that Norwood will become a Leeds player.

The 27-year-old midfielder has won back-to-back promotion from the Championship, earning top-flight football with Brighton back in the 2016/17 campaign, before playing a part in Fulham’s promotion last season.

Leeds are keen to bring another central midfielder in on-loan this summer, having sold Ronaldo Vieira to Sampdoria.

Added to that, Adam Forshaw is sidelined by injury, weakening Marcelo Bielsa’s options in the middle of the field.

A centre-back is also on Leeds’ radar, with reports this morning crediting Leeds with an interest in Steven Caulker.

It has been suggested that Leeds will rival Rangers for the service of the ex-Tottenham centre-back, although Hay indicated he hadn’t heard much about that particular link.

The Verdict

This is a strange one, as Norwood could be just what Leeds need in midfield.

The 27-year-old has experience and has looked good in the Championship over the last two years.

If he isn’t a target at this current time, it’ll be interesting to see who Leeds are pursuing.
