Everyone associated with Leeds United will have been bitterly disappointed not to have capped off an impressive season with promotion to the Premier League.

With good reason too, as under Marcelo Bielsa, they looked like the team to beat in the Championship last season.

It condemns them to yet another season in the second tier of English football, and they’ll be hoping to make a long-awaited return to the top-flight next year.

Bielsa recently penned a new deal at Elland Road, to extend his stay in Yorkshire until the end of next season, which will come as a huge boost to their chances of winning promotion.

But there remains some uncertainty as to what funds the Leeds boss will have available to him over the summer as he looks to plan for the 2019/2020 league campaign.

It has previously been reported by L'Equipe, that the chairman of Qatar Sports Investments (who own PSG) had been in talks with Leeds owner, Andrea Radrizzani.

But The Independent have recently published a conflicting report claiming that the talks that were underway, weren’t regarding any potential takeover at Elland Road.

Although a potential partnership hasn’t been ruled out by the two clubs, it’s certainly been the hot topic of conversation amongst the Leeds supporters this week.

The longer this speculation draws on, the worse it’s going to be for Leeds.

That’s because this seems to be delaying Marcelo Bielsa being given transfer funds to strengthen his squad ahead of next season, which is something he would have hoped could be done at the earliest of opportunities.

If there is still some uncertainty as to what talks were held between Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Radrizzani heading into the new season, then it could definitely disrupt Leeds’ season which gets underway in August.

The Whites can’t afford to get off to a slow start, otherwise they’ll struggle to win promotion back into the Premier League, in what is a fiercely-competitive Championship this season.

There is no doubting that the quality is there for Leeds to succeed this season, and they need to have this ownership talk put to bed as soon as possible, otherwise they will blow one of the best opportunities they've had in recent years to return to the top-flight.

Radrizzani needs to get it sorted, and fast.
