Leeds United will be keeping a close eye on the current situation with their former winger, Max Gradel.

The Ivory Coast international has struggled for game time with the Cherries since making the move to Eddie Howe’s men in 2015, and a move in January could be on the cards.

Leeds and their manager Garry Monk will be firmly in the market for new players in January, with the club looking to build on their excellent first half of the season.

Tricky winger Gradel enjoyed a productive spell at Elland Road between 2009 and 2011, first on loan, then on a permanent deal.

With Gradel and Leeds in mind, FLW writer Lee Connor has taken a look at THREE reasons why Leeds should look to sign Max Gradel next week…

Experience

At 29, Gradel is at an age where he should still be able to play his best football, but is experienced enough to help out younger players at the club.

The Ivorian has over 40 caps for his country, and coupled with spells with Leicester City, St Etienne, and Bournemouth, his experience could be vital to Leeds.

He would be a shrewd signing and would definitely help younger players like Hadi Sacko and Ronaldo Vieira.

Bags of pace in the wide areas

In Hadi Sacko, Leeds already have a player who is full of energy and speed in the wide areas, but the addition of Gradel could give the club an added dimension.

An attack containing two wingers of the pace and trickery of Gradel and Sacko could be frightening for Championship defences.

A first big name under Radrizzani

Leeds fans would love to see Gradel back

With new part 50% owner Andrea Radrizzani expected to put his money into the club on the pitch, the signing of Gradel would represent a real statement of intent.

If Leeds can add someone from the Premier League – and a full international at that – to their squad, then fans will instantly buy into what Radrizzani is preaching.

Leeds fans, what do you think? Would you take Gradel? Is he what you need? Let us know in the comments!
