According to Club Call, Leeds United have sent scouts to watch Marcus Maddison and Jack Marriott, as the Peterborough United duo continue to star in Sky Bet League One this season.

Between the duo this season they have bagged 30 goals across all competitions, as well as adding 22 assists in a thoroughly impressive first-half to the 2017/18 campaign.

Maddison, an attacking midfielder, has bagged nine goals across all competitions, as well as an impressive 18 assists, whilst his teammate, Marriott, has 21 goals and four assists.

A Leeds scout was present at Valley Parade on Boxing Day, as Peterborough swept aside Bradford City in League One, with both Maddison and Marriott heavily involved in Posh’s 3-1 victory.

Maddison laid on two assists for Marriott, who along with his two goals also managed to bag himself an assist for teammate, Dan Lloyd-McGoldrick.

24-year-old Maddison has previously been on Leeds’ radar, but the Championship outfit failed to strike a deal during Massimo Cellino’s tenure.

Marriott is now on Leeds’ radar, with the fifth placed Whites the latest Championship club to have an interest in the free-scoring 23-year-old, who has also been watched by the likes of Aston Villa and Sunderland.

The Verdict

Maddison and Marriott have been incredibly impressive this season for Peterborough, with the duo key to putting Posh in play-off contention heading into 2018.

It is hardly a surprise to see Leeds, who need attacking reinforcements, showing an interest, however, there would be risk in the Whites looking to add two lower league players to their promotion-chasing squad.

This could be an interesting transfer saga to follow in the New Year, particularly with Leeds’ former interest in Maddison.
