Garry Monk is expecting his Leeds United side to face another tough test in the Sky Bet Championship this weekend, as they welcome QPR to Elland Road, reports the club’s official website.

The R’s defeated Leeds 3-0 on the opening day of the season, giving Monk the worst possible start to his Leeds career.

The defeat at Loftus Road is well in the past with Leeds now flying in the Championship, sitting fourth, and looking for a return to the Premier League for the first time since 2004.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Monk reflected on the opening day, and highlighted the progression his side have made, he said: “We had a big disappointment on our opening day against QPR, we felt we were better than what we showed.

“At the weekend we want to show how far we have come, we will have another big crowd and our passionate fans behind us.”

QPR were managed by Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink at the start of the season, but Ian Holloway is now in-charge at Loftus Road, and has guided the club to 14th in the Championship table, seemingly on course for a mid-table finish.

Holloway has seen his team record four victories from their last five games, and Monk praised his counterpart, he continued: “Ian Holloway has done a great job since going back to QPR and they have some very good players and they are in good form.

“It will be another tough test, all games in this division are difficult, especially at this time of the season when teams are fighting for all sorts of different reasons.”

Monk’s side are looking to solidify their place in the Championship Play-Offs this weekend and extend their eight-point lead over seventh-placed Fulham.
