Leeds United striker Kemar Roofe has been backed by former player Stephen Warnock to have a big impact on the outcome of the campaign for the Whites.

The former Oxford man began the season in red-hot form, before injury curtailed his progress somewhat as the Whites dropped points while Roofe and others were out injured.

However, his early season form impressed, and speaking to the Express, former Liverpool, Villa, and Whites left back Warnock backed Roofe to play a starring role.

“He’s a great player, he’s really kicked on. He maybe found things tough last season but that was bound to happen."

“Everybody has been surprised at how well he had adapted during his second season at the club. He’ll be central to how their season goes.” added Warnock.

Roofe has knocked in five goals already for the Whites, and now, back to fitness, will be hoping to kick on and play a big role under manager Marcelo Bielsa.

Leeds have the chance to go top of the pile today when they take on Nottingham Forest in the evening kick off live on Sky.

The verdict

Warnock has a point, Roofe will be key, but for me, Leeds need to add another striker in January.

With Patrick Bamford out and the obvious miss when Roofe wasn't fit, Leeds simply need more if they are to win promotion. January will be key for Bielsa and Leeds, and Roofe might well find himself with either a new partner, or someone trying to replace him.
