Leeds United have recently announced that Jordan Stevens has signed a new deal with the club, to keep him at Elland Road until the summer of 2022.

Stevens has caught the eye with a number of impressive performances, and he'll be hoping that he can force his way into Marcelo Bielsa's plans in the future.

Stevens took to Instagram following the announcement, and expressed his delight at coming to a fresh agreement, whilst also looking ahead to the future.

Stevens has been in the headlines earlier this season for a breaching gambling rules which saw the midfielder banned from football for a total of six weeks.

But he has since returned to the Under-23's side, and has put in some impressive performances for Carlos Corberan's men this term.

He'll be keen to force his way into the senior starting XI in the future though, and was an unused substitute for Leeds' 4-0 win over Middlesbrough last weekend.

Stevens made his competitive senior debut for the Whites last season, when he came on as a late substitute against Stoke City.

Leeds are next in action this weekend, when they take on Huddersfield Town in what could potentially be a tricky test for Marcelo Bielsa's side on Saturday.

The Whites are currently sat second in the Championship, and will be looking to keep the pressure on league leaders West Brom with a positive result against the Terriers in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

The Verdict:

I think he's deserved a new deal at Leeds United.

It's been well-publicised that he's had his off-the-field problems, but he's knuckled down since then and been impressive for the Leeds under 23's recently.

If he can continue to build on these impressive showings, then I have no doubt in saying that he'll be challenging for a spot in the Leeds first team towards the end of this year's campaign.
