Leeds United midfielder, Samu Saiz is reportedly being lined up as a potential transfer target for Spanish side, Valencia according to El Gol Digital.

The report claims that Valencia are weighing up a bid in the region of £5.5m for the creative midfielder, who looks like he will be attracting interest in the near future.

Saiz is currently out on loan with Getafe, but has struggled for game time in Spain, as he's made just eight appearances since departing Elland Road in December.

It has also been reported that Getafe aren't considering taking up the option of making his loan spell, a permanent one ahead of the summer.

It seems highly unlikely that Saiz will remain with Marcelo Bielsa's side for much longer though, and the Leeds boss will be keen to clear out the 'deadwood' in his squad ahead of next year's campaign.

Leeds could well be planing for life in the Premier League next season, with the Whites set to face Derby in the Championship play-off semi-final this weekend.

Saiz made 19 appearances for the Whites under Marcelo Bielsa this season, but struggled to adjust to the high-intensity style of play that the newly-appointed boss was trying to implement.

It's certainly not going to be the last we hear of a rumour linking Saiz with a permanent move away from Elland Road, with his time at the club looking all but over.

The Verdict:

I'm surprised by this.

Saiz has hardly been given a look in since joining Getafe on loan, and I'm not sure what Valencia have seen in him that is going to tempt them to make a bid.

Leeds will surely be desperate to see the back of a player that evidently doesn't want to be at Elland Road for much longer.
