Leeds United striker Ryan Edmondson has posted a message on social media, following his performance in the Whites' 5-0 win over York City in a pre-season friendly.

The 18-year-old returned to his former club last night, as the Whites began their pre-season campaign with a convincing victory over the National League North side.

The striker came on for the final half an hour and put in a good performance as Leeds ran out comfortable winners at Bootham Crescent.

Edmondson started his career at York City, before moving to Leeds in 2017 and the striker has admitted that it felt good to return to his former club.

After the game, Edmondson posted three photos of himself in action for Leeds last night on his personal Instagram account and added a message saying: "Felt good to be back at Bootham Crescent getting some minutes in #Alwayslearning #MOT #leedsunited".

Edmondson enjoyed a prolific campaign for Leeds' under-23 side last season, scoring 19 goals in all competitions as Carlos Corberan's side won the Professional Development League title.

The striker has made two senior appearances for Leeds so far in his career and will be hoping to get another opportunity in the first-team next season.

Leeds will continue their pre-season campaign with another friendly match against Guiseley tonight, before the squad travel to Australia at the weekend.

The Verdict

I'm sure it would have felt good for Edmondson to return to his former club last night and it would have served as a reminder of how far he has come over the past couple of years.

Edmondson has already had a taste of first-team action for Leeds and I'm sure he will be determined to get another opportunity for the senior side next season.

If he continues to play like he did last season, I think he's only a matter of time before he gets another chance and he could have a bright future ahead of him at Elland Road.

The striker will probably get another chance in pre-season and it's up to him to convince Bielsa that he is ready to make an impact for the first-team next term.
