Leeds United winger Jack Harrison has revealed that he often speaks to Frank Lampard for advice as he prepares to make a big impact for the Whites this season.

The on-loan Manchester City man played with the Chelsea boss whilst at New York City and he told the Daily Mail that he developed a close relationship with Lampard during that time.

"I feel like I can talk to Frank about anything. I've had a really special relationship with him. A special bond. People come and go in this game, lose contact, but with him it's something more than that. He's been an idol for me.

"It's weird. I have to step outside the box every now and then to think about it. He gives me answers that help massively."

The 41-year-old was in charge of Derby last time and famously clashed with Leeds over 'Spygate', with the Whites fans mocking him throughout their play-off semi-final. However, Lampard had the last laugh over the Yorkshire outfit as his side won over two legs to reach Wembley.

The Verdict

Given the animosity between Leeds and Derby since the spying incident it may be surprising to see Harrison say this but he clearly is close to Lampard.

And, from a football perspective, the ex-England international is a great role model for any young player to have as he worked on his game non-stop and his dedication helped him win everything in the club game.

It's also good to see that Harrison is ready to lean on players with Lampard's experience to help him improve.

And, he will hope to show the benefits of that this season, starting by putting in a big performance against Bristol City this afternoon.
