Patrick Bamford has set his sights on promotion with Leeds United this season after agreeing a four-year deal at Elland Road.

Earlier in the week Leeds moved to announce the arrival of Bamford, who after a short negotiation process, signed a four-year deal with the Whites, committing himself until the summer of 2022.

The 24-year-old could be set for his debut this weekend against Stoke City, and speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post ahead of that clash, he has set his sights on helping Leeds achieve promotion back to the Premier League.

Bamford turned his back on Middlesbrough to link up with Leeds this week, with the ex-Chelsea forward ending an 18-month spell at the Riverside in favour of West Yorkshire.

The well travelled forward had two spells at Middlesbrough in the Championship, and last season scored 11 league goals.

Nine of those goals came in a blistering seven game period and included a hat-trick over Leeds, when Bamford fired Boro to a 3-0 victory over the Whites on a freezing night at the Riverside Stadium.

The Verdict

Bamford has set his targets high ahead of this season, with the 24-year-old targeting promotion in his first year with the Whites.

It remains to be seen whether that is a realistic target for the Whites, but Bamford will be key to making it a possibility.

Leeds have brought the striker on board to score goals, and without Bamford firing, Leeds won’t have much chance of challenging for the top-six.
