After drawing their last two games, many Sunderland fans will have accepted that relegation is inevitable with the Black Cats six points from safety with just four games to play.

It has been a torrid season for the Wearside club although one positive appears to be that manager Chris Coleman wants to stick around for years to come.

Even though he has been responsible for relegation, the reality is that the problems at the Stadium of Light start at the top, meaning any manager would struggle with what Coleman has had to deal with.

Given that, there won't be too much optimism with the fans that they can bounce back into the Championship at the first time of asking.

However, Coleman has promised a major clear-out this summer which will also see new players coming in.

Here we look at three signings that could arrive at the club very quickly...

Sunderland desperately need a new keeper as the three stoppers they've used this season just haven't been up to it.

They were linked with the Leeds keeper in January and he is sure to be available in the summer as he seeks game time before he retires.

Lonergan should be perfectly capable in the third tier and will bring an experienced and calm head behind the defence.

Coleman isn't going to have a big budget to work with next season, so he will have to be smart in the market.

The Birmingham midfielder is out of contract in the summer and hasn't managed to make himself a regular under Garry Monk so there's every chance he will be released.

With his experience and ability he could be a key player in League One.

There's no doubt this is the toughest deal of the three to complete but the big man is another who is a free in the summer.

Whilst his recent form may convince Wednesday to offer him a new deal, even if he does stay he won't be guaranteed to start each week - unlike Sunderland.

If Coleman can persuade Nuhiu to drop a division he would be the main striker which would appeal and could help them return at the first time of asking.
