Leeds United striker Marcus Antonsson has refused to rule out any possibilities this summer, he has told the media in Sweden.

In an interview with Swedish media outlet Expressen, Antonsson has revealed that he will "not close any doors" during the close season.

Antonsson joined the Whites in summer 2016 but only scored one league goal in his first season at Elland Road.

This led to Thomas Christiansen deciding to loan the former Halmstads and Kalmar out to Blackburn Rovers last season, where he notched eight goals in 34 games to help Tony Mowbray's side to promotion.

But Rovers have decided not to take up an option which would see him move to Ewood Park on a permanent deal and now his future is up in the air.

The Swede is attracting attention back in his home country from Hammarby and Malmo but he was coy when asked about his future.

Asked if he would like to return to Sweden, Antonsson said"I do not close any doors at all. It can be anything but I assume I'm Leeds player when I get back."

The 27-year-old striker is likely to meet Leeds' new manager before making a decision on his future in pre-season.

The Verdict

Antonsson is simply not good enough for Leeds and a return to Sweden would make sense for his playing career, if not financially.

Perhaps he would rather prove himself and stay in England - I am sure League One clubs would like to snap the Swedish striker up.

Although he is not giving much away about his future, this decision may be out of his hands when the new Leeds manager runs the rule over his sizeable squad.
