Will Huffer has stated that he’s enjoyed every minute of his loan spell with Barnet FC in the National League, as the goalkeeper return to Leeds United.

Leeds allowed Huffer to depart Elland Road last month, with the young England goalkeeper linking up with Barnet on a one month loan deal.

And, the 20-year-old has impressed for the Bees in his three appearances, featuring in the 3-3 draw with Brentford in the FA Cup and keeping a clean sheet in last night’s goalless draw with Sutton United.

The Whites have now moved to recall Huffer back to Elland Road and not extend his stay with Barnet due to Kamil Miazek – the club’s under-23 goalkeeper – suffering an injury.

Huffer, who has made one Championship appearance for Leeds in 2018/19, took to Twitter to express how much he enjoyed his spell in the National League:

Now, the goalkeeper will link back up with Leeds’ under-23s and provide cover for first-team duo, Kiko Casilla and Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

That duo will be expected to be in Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team when Bolton Wanderers visit on Saturday, with Huffer’s opportunities coming in the under-23s.

Carlos Corberan’s 23s are in action on Friday night against Nottingham Forest.

The Verdict

Huffer will have learnt a lot about himself at Barnet, despite making only three first-team appearances.

That experience for a young goalkeeper is invaluable and will stand him in good stead for the future.

Now, it’s about kicking on and learning from those around him at Elland Road.
