Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich has revealed he thrives under pressure as the Whites gear up for a crucial game against Sheffield United on Saturday.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side are one point ahead of their Yorkshire rivals in the second automatic promotion spot, with the fixture at Elland Road sure to be critical in the race for a top-two finish.
Therefore, the stakes are extremely high this weekend but Klich was quoted by Phil Hay that he relished playing in games like this.
“Personally I really enjoy it. In football you need pressure. It keeps you going. Losing the QPR game motivated us to destroy West Brom at home. I really hope we’re going to play the same game.”
The Polish international starred in the week as Leeds easily overcame Reading, with the 28-year-old finishing off a fine move to give his side the lead.
It meant Bielsa’s men have won their last three without conceding so they will approach the game with real confidence.
Although, the same can be said of the Blades, who are unbeaten in nine and have kept six clean sheets in a row.
This is exactly the sort of attitude you’d expect the players to have ahead of this game.
Sure, it’s going to be nervy for both sets of supporters but it’s exactly the sort of fixture you’d love to be involved in as a player.
Klich recognises that and he will be counting down the time until kick-off.
