Stuart Dallas has insisted that Leeds United are out to 'get one over' on Wigan after last season's devastating result in the Championship run-in.

Leeds were defeated by two goals to one at Elland Road on Good Friday at the back end of last season. The result meant that Sheffield United could go further ahead in the race for the Premier League.

Wigan were reduced to ten men early on in the fixture when Cédric Kipré saw red. Patrick Bamford then gave Leeds United the lead with many thinking the Whites would then go on to record a comfortable victory.

However, Gavin Massey's brace stunned the home fans and despite having over 30 attempts on goal, Bielsa's side couldn't find an equaliser.

As reported by Lee Sobot, Dallas said: "I am sure the boys will be chomping at the bit to get out there on Saturday. We definitely owe them one."

Dallas has been a key player since Bielsa joined the club and has even experimented in his positioning, starting the majority of his games as a wing-back. He scored twice in the second leg of the Championship play-off which saw Leeds knocked out by Derby.

The Verdict

Dallas is saying all the right things here. Even in such a small amount of words, it's what all Leeds fans will want to hear. He was part of the squad last season and it would have hurt him just as much as anybody.

The way the Wigan fixture was played out last season shocked many around Elland Road and it's important that Leeds now make a statement at the DW Stadium and show that they are over what happened last season.

If the Whites fail to be victorious, whether rightly or wrongly, many will start speaking about the previous year's result and how the squad isn't yet over it.
