Liam Cooper has fired a warning at Millwall, insisting Leeds United will be “ready to come out of the blocks firing” when they head to London on September 15.

Leeds have made an exceptionally strong start to the Championship season under Marcelo Bielsa, picking up 14 points from their opening six fixtures of the season.

Bielsa’s side have seven points from a possible nine away from home so far, but perhaps their biggest test so far will come against Millwall later this month.

The Whites head to The Den on September 15, but Cooper has fired a warning to Millwall, insisting that Leeds will be ready for their biggest game of the season so far.

The 27-year-old told the Yorkshire Evening Post: “Millwall is the next game so it’s the biggest game of our season and that’s the way we have got to approach it.

“They are in our way, they will want to beat us and we know what a hard place it is to go and we will be preparing properly and we will come out the blocks firing.”

Last year, Leeds were unbeaten after their first seven fixtures of the Championship season before heading to Millwall.

Neil Harris’ side beat Leeds 1-0 at The Den, with that result leading to a downturn in results.

The Whites never really recovered from that defeat, eventually finishing 13th.

The Verdict

Millwall are going to serve Leeds a huge test when the international break is over, with that clash having a similar look to last season’s fixture.

Cooper was part of the Leeds side that crumbled against Millwall, but the Leeds captain sounds well up for the challenge this season.

It’s going to be tough test, but if Leeds’ squad share Cooper’s bullish attitude, the Whites could surprise a few at The Den.
