According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United midfielder Alex Mowatt is edging towards a permanent move to Barnsley.
Barnsley and Leeds held productive talks over the potential transfer of Alex Mowatt and the Tykes are looking to finalise a transfer fee by tomorrow.
The 21-year-old has played well over 100 games for Leeds since graduating from their famed academy in 2013 but his playing time has been limited under new boss Garry Monk this year.
The success of central midfield quartet Eunan O’Kane, Liam Bridcutt, Kalvin Phillips and Ronaldo Vieira has seen Mowatt largely restricted to substitute cameos.
The Leeds United Player of the Year 2014/15 could be set to complete a move to Yorkshire neighbours Barnsley, who are looking to strengthen their options after losing Sam Winnall, Conor Hourihane and James Bree this month.
Leeds are reportedly willing to sell the former England under-20 international as his contract is due to expire in the summer.
Leeds fans – would selling Mowatt be a mistake? How much is he worth?
Barnsley fans – would you like to sign Mowatt? Can he be Hourihane’s replacement?
