Leeds have reportedly stepped up their interest in bringing Jeremain Lens to Elland Road, with unofficial enquiries being made in their efforts to sign him, according to Turkish media outlet, Fotospor.

This isn't the first we have heard of Leeds' interest in the Dutchman, who has impressed in recent performances with Turkish giants, Besiktas this season.

Earlier this month, Fotomac claimed that Leeds has sent scouts out to watch Lens in his game against Sarpsborg in the Europa League.

Leeds have enquired about Lens’ price tag, via agents, but club president Fikret Orman has said they will only talk about the attacker’s value once the Whites have made an official offer for the player.

It seems that Leeds are eyeing a deal that could make Lens the first addition to Marcelo Bielsa's squad in January when the transfer window reopens.

Lens has only made nine appearances in total for Besiktas in the league this season, but has been hugely impressive for the Turkish side in their Europa League campaign, scoring three times in just five games in Europe.

His lack of game time could be a deciding factor in the potential move to Leeds, with Marcelo Bielsa likely to be the man to get the best out of the Dutchman who has previously struggled in his last spell in England with Sunderland.

The Verdict:

He would be an excellent addition to Marcelo Bielsa's squad.

Lens may not be the most consistent of players, but on his day, he would tear Championship defences to shreds.

The former Dutch international possesses the sort of quality to change the course of a game on his own, and if Leeds do sign him in January, then they have some player on their hands.

He could be the missing piece in the jigsaw in this Leeds side.
