Leeds United's interest in signing Liverpool midfielder Harry Wilson has cooled according to a report from Football Insider.

It is claimed that Liverpool's asking price is £15million for Wilson, with it looking likely that the midfielder will leave the club during the summer transfer window.

Leeds had previously been rivalling the likes of Newcastle United and Crystal Palace to the potential signing of the 23-year-old, but for one reason or another, their interest has cooled.

The Welshman spent the 2019/20 season on loan with AFC Bournemouth, but his efforts were unable to stop the Cherries from being relegated into the Championship.

Wilson chipped in with seven goals and two assists for Bournemouth, but it seems as though his days with Liverpool are likely to be numbered heading into the new season.

Leeds will be hoping that they can make the necessary additions to their squad ahead of the new league campaign, after they won promotion from the Championship.

Marcelo Bielsa's side finished top of the second-tier standings, and an impressive ten points clear of second-placed West Brom.

The Verdict:

I'm surprised by this.

I saw Wilson as a potential long-term successor to Pablo Hernandez if he signed for Leeds in the summer, but you have to trust Bielsa's judgement with this one.

If he doesn't think a player is worth as much as a team is asking for, there are clearly more cost-effective options out there for the Argentine.

I'm sure that we'll be seeing Wilson playing his football in the Premier League next season either way, and Leeds will be hoping that their reported stance on a potential deal for Wilson, doesn't come back to haunt them.
