Leeds United have today revealed a new club crest that will be used from the start of next season, which will the clubs centenary year.

The club announced the news this afternoon and revealed that they had spent six months on the process of designing the new badge and interacted with over 10,000 people connected with Leeds.

From surveys, interviews and consulting current and former players, Leeds revealed they wanted a new crest to show the ‘passion and unique identity that runs through the club’.

Speaking to the official website, Managing Director Angus Kinnear admitted it was a tough decision but that he was delighted with the new look.

“Updating the crest is not a decision we have taken lightly, but we are proud to have a new crest that is authentic to Leeds United and honours the quality and loyalty of our fans. It is a symbol of ‘strength in unity’ and a proud expression of the club’s identity and history.”

The crest will be used from next season onwards on the club kits.

The Verdict

Leeds are clearly very proud of the time, work and effort that has gone into creating the new club crest but it’s fair to say the fans are not keen on it.

There’s nothing wrong with changing the badge, that happens quite frequently and Leeds have had a number of different crests over the years, but this will certainly take some getting used to!

Times are changing and Leeds and Andrea Radrizzani wants to begin a new era at the club and the new crest is the latest change he has made during his reign.
