Leeds United have reportedly submitted an offer for Sunderland youngster Joe Hugill according to Football Insider.

It had previously been reported by Football Insider that Manchester United had agreed personal terms with Hugill, although this report claims that the Whites have made a late move for the promising youngster.

Hugill has been hugely impressive for the Sunderland youth teams, and has broke through to the Under-23s team this season, despite only being 16-years-old.

The striker netted a brace in his first appearance for the Under-23s team as well, although they were beaten 4-2 by West Ham United.

He is yet to make an appearance for the Sunderland first-team, and it seems as though his future lies away from the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland are currently sat seventh in the League One table, but are just three points adrift of the automatic promotion places with nine games remaining in this year's campaign.

A move to Leeds United could be tempting for Hugill as well, with the Whites currently well on course to win a long-awaited promotion back into the Premier League this term.

The Verdict:

He's clearly a player with a bright future ahead of him.

Hugill has really impressed in the Sunderland Under-23s team this season, and I'm not surprised to hear that other teams are reportedly keen to land his signature ahead of the summer transfer window.

It's a shame for Sunderland, as they would have been keen to see Hugill eventually break into the first-team under Phil Parkinson's management in the future.

But, given that they're still playing their football in League One, they're not going to have the 'pulling power' when it comes to keeping hold of their young talents.
