Leeds United have been linked with a move for Barnsley defender Liam Lindsay who has been a key player for the Tykes this season as they target promotion back to the Championship.

Marcelo Bielsa's side have been the team to beat this season, and will be hoping they can break into the automatic promotion places before the season finishes.

Lindsay is sure to be tempted by the prospect of moving to Elland Road, especially if the Whites are to make a long-awaited return to the Premier League.

But one man at the club who may be worried if Lindsay is to sign for Leeds in the summer is captain Liam Cooper.

The former Hull man has been a regular in the Leeds side this season under Marcelo Bielsa but has shown signs that he could be a potential weak point in the Leeds squad.

The central defender was at fault for two key incidents in Leeds' defeat to Sheffield United.

He lost the ball to Billy Sharp, who set up Chris Basham's winner, whilst he also conceded possession which resulted in Kiko Casilla's dismissal for bringing down Sharp.

With Pontus Jansson arguably one of the best players at the club, he knows that Lindsay's arrival could push him down the pecking order.

The Barnsley defender is only 23, and certainly as age on his side compared to Cooper, which may also be a factor for the recruitment team.

So, Cooper will definitely be fearing for his starting spot if Lindsay arrives but that competition for places is sure to benefit the team.
