Leeds United’s Kyle Bartley has shared an honest verdict on Sunday’s dramatic defeat to Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town, reports the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The Terriers beat Leeds 2-1 in the west Yorkshire Derby, to complete the double over their closest rivals this season, in a thrilling game at the John Smith's Stadium yesterday.

Bartley, who has been a regular feature at the heart of Leeds’ defence this season, conceded:

“If I’m honest, I don’t think we played very well, I thought maybe the better team won.

“I didn’t think we were fantastic but these are the type of games where you’ve got to see it out and get some points.”

Izzy Brown gave Huddersfield the lead during the first-half before Chris Wood levelled just before the break.

As the game looked like heading for a draw, Michael Hefele redirected a shot past Leeds’ keeper Rob Green, to clinch the victory, leading to jubilation on the sidelines for the home side.

Hefele’s goal sparked wild celebrations amongst Huddersfield players and coaching staff.

Home manager David Wagner ran across half the pitch to celebrate with his players, sparking a huge brawl between both sets of players and management. It was quite the dramatic end to a game that could have a huge effect on the complexion of the Championship table.

The defeat leaves the Whites lying in fifth in the Sky Bet Championship table, now trailing the automatic promotion places by seven points.

Next up for Garry Monk’s men is a clash with Neil Warnock’s Cardiff City at Elland Road on Saturday.
