Leeds United have reportedly registered their interest in signing AS Saint-Étienne defender Harold Moukoudi according to L'Equipe.

The French media outlet also claim that Stoke City and Derby County are interested in landing his signature before the January transfer window closes.

Moukoudi has only made 11 league appearances for the French side this term and he'll be hoping that he can find regular game time in the near future.

A move to Elland Road could be a tempting proposition for the 22-year-old as well, with Marcelo Bielsa's currently occupying one of the automatic promotion places.

But with league leaders West Brom also believed to be interested in a deal to bring the defender to The Hawthorns this month, it could be a potential deal that goes down to the wire, with Deadline Day approaching.

Any deal between both parties involved is thought to be a loan deal, with Moukoudi's contract with AS Saint-Étienne set to expire in the summer of 2023.

Leeds will be hoping they can make the necessary additions to their squad before the transfer window closes, as they look to win a long-awaited promotion back into the Premier League this season under Bielsa's guidance.

The Verdict:

You have to trust Bielsa's judgement with a potential deal like this.

I'll admit that I don't know much about Moukoudi's ability, but he could be a smart signing by the Whites this month if he can adjust to his new surroundings well.

Leeds could certainly benefit from signing a defender before the transfer window closes so that they have additional depth in their back line for the second-half of this year's campaign.

Injuries are always a possibility, and Bielsa would be making a smart move in signing Moukoudi, who clearly has something about him if the likes of West Brom and Derby County are also interested in landing his signature before the January transfer window closes.
