Leeds United have been suggested as a potential destination for Salzburg's Erlin Haaland - providing they win promotion to the Premier League.

The 19-year-old Norwegian international is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in Europe following his amazing form with the Austrian champions and he has been linked with a host of elite clubs around the globe, including Manchester United.

It was also revealed earlier this week that Haaland had held talks with RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund as he weighs up his next move.

Despite that, Bleacher Report journalist Dean Jones has claimed that a move to Elland Road could be on the cards - depending on two conditions. Firstly, the striker would have to stay with Salzburg until the end of the season and the Whites would also need to win promotion.

However, the latter is looking very likely right now, with Marcelo Bielsa's side currently 11 points clear of third place and they have been playing some brilliant football this season.

Haaland has a connection with Leeds United as his dad, Alf-Inge, played for the Yorkshire side for three years from 1997 and it had been said that his son grew up as a supporter of the Championship side.

The verdict

I can't imagine that Leeds fans will be getting too carried away with this report as it does seem unlikely but the fact it's even mentioned as a possibility is exciting.

The youngster is one of the most in-demand players in world football right now and he would obviously be a massive coup for the Whites if they could pull it off.

It seems they have some very grand plans if they do return to the top-flight but all the focus has to be on keeping up their fine form and getting another three points against Cardiff this afternoon.
