Leeds boss Steve Evans is keen to bolster his squad in this January transfer window and has moved to bring in Middlesbrough winger Mustapha Carayol for the rest of the season, and has renewed the loan deal for Sunderland’s Liam Bridcutt.
Now, according to Swedish media outlet Expressen, Evans is trying to strike another deal with the Black Cats to take 30-year-old Larsson to Elland Road.
The Sweden international has fallen down the pecking order at the Stadium of Light, making just 11 appearances this season, and could be tempted to follow Bridcutt out of the door if his situation doesn’t change on Wearside.
Larsson, who has 80 caps for Sweden, is contracted at the Stadium of Light until 2017, and has made nearly 150 appearances for the Black Cats in five years at the club after joining from Birmingham City in the summer of 2011.
Leeds are unbeaten in their last seven league matches and sit 13th in the Championship with 32 points from 25 matches.
Evans’ side are also through to the fourth round of the FA Cup after a 2-0 win over Rotherham United, thanks to a goal from debutant Carayol and Souleymane Doukara.
