Leeds United have made a move to land Brighton's Oliver Norwood, with the midfielder sure to leave the Premier League side this summer.

The Northern Ireland international is out of favour under Chris Hughton and spent the previous campaign on loan at Fulham.

Whilst Norwood struggled to establish himself as a regular in the Cottagers stylish side, he was an important squad player and came on in the play-off final as they clung on for the crucial victory.

However, Slavisa Jokanovic did not pursue a deal for the player following promotion, with the 27-year old set to move.

And, according to Football Insider, Leeds United are very keen on the player, who is also interesting Swansea and Hull, with the latter having two bids rejected for him this summer.

The report adds that the Seagulls are looking for a £1.5m fee for the midfield man.

Should he arrive at Elland Road, he would be seen as a replacement for youngster Ronaldo Vieira, who joined Italian side Sampdoria this week for around £6.2m.

The Verdict

This would be a great bit of business for Leeds as Norwood is a proven, quality Championship player.

He has great technique and is capable on the ball so would suit a Marcelo Bielsa team, whilst he also isn't afraid of putting his foot in.

With Vieira gone and Adam Forshaw out for six weeks, the Whites need a midfielder and Norwood seems the perfect fit.
