Leeds United have identified Hibs midfielder John McGinn as a summer target with the SPL side wanting £5m for their star man.

That's the latest according to Sun journalist Alan Nixon who revealed the news on twitter this morning.

McGinn has proven himself to be one of the best midfielders in Scotland with his all-action style and he was nominated for PFA Scotland’s Premiership Player of the Year award this season.

However, Leeds will face fierce competition for the talented 23-year old with a host of clubs linked with the player in the past.

Reports have suggested he is a chief target of Rangers whilst Brighton and Bournemouth are also supposedly interested in McGinn.

Paul Heckingbottom will be looking to bring in several new faces at Elland Road after a very poor season for Leeds. A second half of the season collapse saw the Yorkshire club finish in the bottom half of the table with many fans understandably upset at the club's recruitment in the past 12 months.

The Verdict

This would be a big signing for Leeds as McGinn is a real class act and only improving.

He is a competitive player but importantly has a lot of class on the ball and could easily become one of the better midfielders in the Championship.

The issue for Leeds will be attracting him to the club as there is a lot of other interest but it would be a coup if they pulled it off.
