Leeds United are reportedly lining up a move for Manchester City youngster Yan Couto according to a report from The Athletic.

Any potential move would be a loan one, with Manchester City set to move to the Premier League giants in the summer from Brazilian side Coritiba after agreeing personal terms with Pep Guardiola's side.

Couto has recently broken into the Coritiba first-team, which is certainly an impressive achievement, with the right-back only being 17-years-old.

The full-back has also been capped on numerous occasions for the Brazil Under-17s team, and will be hoping he can further his development in senior football at the earliest of opportunities.

A move to Elland Road could be a tempting proposition for Couto as well, with Marcelo Bielsa's side currently sat top of the Premier League table with just nine matches remaining in this year's campaign.

Leeds are also seven points clear of third-placed Fulham, so they are certainly in with a strong chance of making a long-awaited promotion into the top-flight.

However, due to recent off-the-field events, that push for promotion has been put on hold for the time being, with no scheduled return date in place as of yet.

The Verdict:

He could be a shrewd signing for Leeds if they get a deal in place for Couto.

He's an unproven talent in terms of playing in senior football, but you have to trust Leeds' judgement with this one, as they could certainly get the best out of Couto.

Leeds are a team that are going places under the management of Marcelo Bielsa, and Couto could be the next young player to thrive under the Argentine's management.
