Leeds United legend reveals all in passionate interview that will delight fans

Leeds United are a community club with a passionate fanbase, with the majority of youngsters in the West Yorkshire city growing up with the belief that they will one day don the famous white strip at Elland Road.

Although for most the dream fails to materialise, for some it becomes a stark reality beyond their wildest expectations.

Take former striker Noel Whelan for example.

Born in the city, Whelan grew up a Leeds fans with the sole intention of breaking into the first team after being handed the opportunity to succeed through the academy route.

Making his bow in 1993, Whelan spent two years at the club before enjoying a successful career at other sides across the British game, but his love for Leeds never faltered.

“It grabs your heart,” he told Leeds’ official website. “You fall in love with something and you stick with it no matter what.

“This place for me is amazing memories as a kid watching, playing. It means everything.”

The Verdict

Leeds United fans love a legend, and Noel Whelan has certainly achieved this status through his commitment and loyalty to the club despite being moved on just two years into his Elland Road career.

Born and raised with Whites’ blood in his veins, Whelan has established an excellent association with the club following his retirement, and is a regular at Elland Road.

Fans adore Whelan for his passion for the club, and can certainly relate with their former man on so many levels.
