Leeds United are considering making a potential move to bring Arsenal defender Rob Holding to Elland Road on loan this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The Whites are in the market for defenders this summer and have reportedly already had two bids rejected by Brighton for Ben White, who excelled at Elland Road during his loan spell with Leeds last term – and Marcelo Bielsa will be needing to make sure either a permanent move is sorted out for him, or a replacement is brought in ahead of next season.

Holding found himself largely a bit part player for Arsenal last season managing to make just 18 appearances in all competitions, but the 24-year-old did start for the Gunners in their FA Cup final win against Chelsea at Wembley and was an impressive performer in their win against Manchester City in the semi-finals.

It is thought that Leeds could move for Holding as a potential alternative to White, who is also being linked with moves to Liverpool and Chelsea, with Bielsa keen to add to both a centre half and a left-back to his squad before the start of the Premier League campaign.

The verdict

This would be a very promising singing for Leeds and Holding would represent a very good and also much cheaper alternative than bringing White back to the club on a permanent deal, and the 24-year-old perhaps reminded Arsenal and others of his abilities during the Gunners’ last two matches in the FA Cup.

Holding will be looking to get more regular game time under his belt next term and he could well thrive like White did at Elland Road under Bielsa’s coaching, and having been used to playing our from the back in a ball dominant side he fits the bill for what the Whites will be looking for.

However, at times Holding has endured some injury struggles, so it could be something of a risk hoping that he could be fully fit all the way through next term and help Leeds ensure that they manage to consolidate their place in the Premier League.
