Championship table toppers Leeds United are interested in making moves for Swansea duo Daniel James and Jefferson Montero.

According to Alan Nixon, the Whites are keen to add some speed and width to their squad, and have identified young winger James as the ideal signing if they can manage to convince Swansea to part ways with the 21-year-old.

However, Nixon also claims that Marcelo Bielsa would take Montero too if a deal for James cannot be brokered, as the Argentinian manager looks to ensure his team stay top of the Championship and secure a return to the Premier League.

Young Welsh winger James is of particular interest to Bielsa and Leeds, with the 21-year-old impressing in his sporadic performances this term and being called up the Welsh national team as a result of his showings for Graham Potter's side.

Montero on the other hand is at the other end of the spectrum to James, with the 29-year-old Ecuadorian having bags of exeprience at both international and club level, although he has never quite hit top form for the Swans following his move to Wales in 2014.

Leeds maintained their promotion push this weekend with a 2-0 win over Derby, while Swansea are well out of the play-off picture as it stands following last season's relegation.

The Verdict

This makes sense for Leeds, and the type of player they are looking to add here would give the squad a big boost.

Both James and Montero offer pace and width, and if either can be signed it would be a huge boost to proceedings at Elland Road.

Bielsa knows what he wants it seems, and it will be interesting to see if Leeds can indeed pull off a move.
