Leeds United are interested in a deal for Genoa defender Aleandro Rosi, according to Italian publication Tutto Mercato.

The 30-year-old defender enjoyed a solid season on-loan with Crotone in Serie A last semester, and impressed Genoa boss Davide Ballardini enough to earn a recall to the Genoa squad this year.

Having already made twelve appearances in the Italian top-flight this term, Rosi has been solid, and recorded his single assist of the campaign in a 3-2 win at Cagliari in October.

The defender graduated from the Roma academy in 2004, and has played for a number of Italian sides since agreeing professional terms with the capital side.

Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen is in the market for a full-back, and could sure up his interest in the experienced defender with a firm bid in the new year.

The Verdict

Rosi is an experienced defender having played across the Italian game, but has failed to gain experience outside of his homeland.

Whether the 30-year-old will adapt to the demands of a new league at this later stage of his career is questionable, and there are arguably better targets for Leeds out there.

Perhaps Christiansen has a loan deal in mind, but Genoa are likely to want to keep the player having seen him appear regularly this season.

If I was the Danish boss, I would put serious consideration and thought into this deal before making a move.
