Leeds United interested in deal for international midfielder to bolster Monk’s options

Leeds United are interested in sealing a deal for South African midfielder Andile Jali – according to Voetbal Primeur.

Jali is currently playing for KV Oostende in the Belgian top tier but could move on after only making 20 starts last season.

Before his 2014 switch to Oostende, Jali played his football in South Africa for Orlando Pirates – where he scored eight goals in 98 games.

The 26-year-old is a diminutive 5ft 7 central midfielder who sits deep in defence and could join, after Monk has allegedly told central midfield duo Luke Murphy and Toumani Diagouraga that they are surplus to requirements.

The South African international has 15 caps for his country and he has scored two goals in the process.

Jali would become Garry Monk’s eleventh summer signing as his major upheaval continues this window.

With Oostende willing to sell and Jali keen on a move to Elland Road, the deal looks like it could go ahead in the next few days.

Leeds fans – what do you think? Would Jali be a good signing? Can he adapt to the English game?
