Leeds United are interested in bringing Marko Grujic on board this month, with the Whites viewing the Liverpool midfielder as an alternative to Mo Besic.

The loan window will remain open until the end of August, with Leeds amongst the clubs in the Sky Bet Championship hoping to bolster their squad.

According to the Hull Daily Mail, Grujic is an option Leeds are looking at, with the Liverpool midfielder viewed as an alternative to Everton’s Besic.

Grujic, 22, has previous experience in the Championship, having spent the second-half of last season on-loan with Neil Warnock and Cardiff City.

The midfielder made 13 appearances for the Bluebirds, including one against Leeds, when Warnock’s side beat the Whites 4-1 at Elland Road back in February.

Grujic’s time in Cardiff also saw him score one Championship goal.

Currently, Leeds’ central midfield options are stretched, with Kalvin Phillips and Mateusz Klich the club’s only senior options.

Marcelo Bielsa has placed faith in that duo during the opening weeks of the Championship season, with Adam Forshaw on the sidelines with an injury.

Late in the summer, Leeds opted to sell Ronaldo Vieira to Sampdoria, weakening their midfield options further.

The Verdict

Grujic’s time with Cardiff was successful, with the midfielder playing a part in their promotion to the Premier League.

For Leeds, he’d be a strong addition.

The 22-year-old stands at 6ft 3in, with his physical presence one of many qualities he would bring at Elland Road.

This would be the type of signing that would get Leeds’ supporters excited.
