West Bromwich Albion playmaker, Matheus Pereira, is a player Leeds United are aware of but he is not seen as a transfer priority at Elland Road right now as the player’s value is set to rocket.
Leeds have enjoyed a successful Premier League return in comparison to West Brom, with Marcelo Bielsa’s side now looking to evolve their squad after finishing ninth in the table.
For West Brom, they are preparing for life back in the Championship after relegation. Those preparations are likely to include a couple of player sales, with Pereira a really saleable asset.
It’s been detailed by Beren Cross of Leeds Live that Pereira is someone Leeds are aware of, but he is by no means a priority for the Whites this summer.
Additionally, the journalist claims that Pereira’s cost is likely to rocket when bids start rolling in for the 25-year-old.
Cross wrote: “On Pereira, he’s someone Leeds are aware of, but so is the rest of the Premier League and Europe.
“They will keep an eye on him, but I don’t think he will be anywhere near the list of priorities. Expect his price to rocket when the bids start going in.”
Pereira joined West Brom permanently last summer after a successful loan during the club’s promotion-winning season.
He was a shining light during the 2020/21 campaign, too, scoring 11 goals and registering six assists despite the Baggies succumbing to a Championship return after just a year back in the top-flight.
21 things every West Brom fan should know about their club, so can you score 100% on this?
Leeds have problem positions to resolve this summer before they start thinking about players like Pereira.
Yes, the West Brom winger would suit life at Elland Road, but the same could be said of a number of attacking players.
Where the 25-year-old ends up, you feel, will come down to the price West Brom are looking for.
West Brom are in quite a strong bargaining position in that regard, so maybe expect Pereira to be out of Leeds’ price range by the time Bielsa has strengthened elsewhere.
