Leeds United are among a trio of Championship clubs that are eyeing up a move for Scunthorpe United’s Funso Ojo.

The Belgian midfielder joined the League One side in the summer from Willem II who play in the Dutch Eredivisie. And, he has played a big role in The Iron’s superb season so far.

That, according to the Mirror, has prompted interest from Leeds, Nottingham Forest and QPR who are all keen on securing a late January deal for the 26-year old.

Ojo is a more defensively minded midfielder and began his career at Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven under Ronald Koeman although he only made 11 appearances for the side in his four years at the club.

After spells in Belgium, the midfielder moved back to Holland before linking up with Scunthorpe at the start of the season.

Graham Alexander’s side are fourth in the table and Ojo has played 27 of their 30 league games so far this season, scoring one goal.

However, given their lofty position Scunthorpe will be desperate to keep hold of Ojo until at least the end of the season.

The Verdict

Funso Ojo has settled to life in England with ease and has been a strong performer for Scunthorpe this season.

That is shown by the interested clubs, and he will surely find it hard to turn down the likes of Leeds and Forest in particular if they make a concrete bid.

With so little time remaining it may be hard to do a deal now but the player would certainly improve the squad of each interested side.
