Leeds United are holding fresh talks with Huddersfield Town over a potential deal for Lewis O'Brien, according to a recent report from Football Insider

The report claims that there is 'growing signs' an agreement for the Terriers midfielder can be reached in the near future, which will be pleasing to hear for the Elland Road faithful.

Leeds have already seen a bid rejected by Huddersfield for O'Brien's services, with that bid being in the region of £2-£3million, according to Football Insider.

O'Brien has been with the Terriers since coming through the club's academy system, and has gone on to make 82 senior appearances in total for Huddersfield Town, with 42 of those coming in the 2020/21 season, as they narrowly avoided relegation into the third-tier of English football.

But it appears as though his strong showings haven't gone unnoticed, with Leeds United reportedly stepping up their efforts to land O'Brien's signature this summer.

A move to Leeds United is likely to be a tempting proposition, with the Whites finishing ninth in their first season back in the Premier League, after winning promotion from the Championship in the 2019/20 campaign.

Huddersfield are set to return to action this weekend, when they host Fulham, in what is likely to be a tough test for Carlos Corberan's side at the John Smith's Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Verdict:

They're evidently confident of getting their man this summer.

O'Brien has really impressed me in recent seasons, and he's been a rare bright spark for a struggling Huddersfield Town side, so it's not a surprise to see him being linked with a move away from the John Smith's Stadium.

A move to Elland Road with Leeds United would certainly be a step up for him, and it'd be interesting to see how he coped with the high-intensity style of play that Marcelo Bielsa is known for playing with the Whites.

It's set to be a busy week ahead with this potential agreement, and Leeds will be hoping they can get a deal over the line at the earliest of opportunities, with the transfer window edging closer to reaching a conclusion this month.
