Crystal Palace have become the latest club to have a cheeky dig at Leeds United since their new club crest was revealed yesterday.

The Whites have hit the headlines after the new badge that was designed for next season was met with huge disapproval from supporters.

This was despite the club claiming that 10,000 people were consulted in the process that took six months.

Yesterday, Aston Villa’s twitter account was quick to take the mick out their Championship rivals, whilst even Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg and Egyptian outfit Zamalek managed to have a laugh at the Yorkshire club.

And, today it’s Crystal Palace who sent this tweet out to promote an upcoming event at Selhurst Park that was clearly inspired by the Leeds badge.

The same layout is used in the picture and they even use similar wording to the Leeds statement yesterday that unveiled the badge.

Such has been the backlash from fans, Managing Director Angus Kinnear has had to admit the club will begin further consultation over the badge in the coming weeks.

That came following a petition calling for the club to cancel the new crest reached almost 70,000 signatures.

The Verdict

This one isn’t going to die down any time soon for Leeds or their fans! They became the talk of social media following the new club crest and the digs could keep coming for a while yet.

They managed to make themselves the laughing stock of football with the new idea, with clubs all over the world piping up and Palace are the latest.

There’s not much Leeds can do except speed up the process of designing a new crest so this one can try and be forgotten as soon as possible.
