Leeds United head coach Uwe Rosler has played down speculation that Tendayi Darikwa is on his way to Elland Road

Speaking to BBC reporter Adam Pope, Rosler stated that the club have no intentions of bringing in 23-year-old Darikwa, before adding; "We have three very good players in that position. With Byram, Berardi and Wootton very good in that position at the club, we are not looking for a right back."

The news will come as a surprise to some Leeds fans, who thought that the signing of Darikwa was going to pave the way for the star player, Sam Byram, to leave for Sunderland.

Although Leeds have reportedly rejected a £4.5million bid for his services, fans remained concerned over the speculation of a possible transfer away from Elland Road. The news originally broke from a Sunderland fan claiming that Byram had told him he was joining the Black Cats in an Ibiza nightclub.

While turning down a move for defender Darikwa, Rosler stated that the three players he had in that position were good enough, including Byram. The head coach would not count a player if he was set to leave the club.

Although Leeds may not need another right back, the argument that two of the listed players that Rosler used are currently played in different positions with Wootton being the third best defender currently occupying the role.

The transfer of Darikwa would have been a good move in the transfer market had Leeds actually pursued the option. Known for his pace, strength and the ability to utilise the whole right side of the pitch, Darikwa sounds like the perfect player to assist the newly positioned Sam Byram in dominating the right flank at Elland Road.
