Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds United have been handed a double fitness boost after the club revealed via social media that both Luke Ayling and Tyler Roberts were back doing drills at Thorp Arch.

It's been a long road to recovery for the pair of them as both missed out on pre-season with the Whites. Both players were crucial last season in Leeds' push for promotion.

Leeds United posted the below clip on Twitter:

This is a major boost for Bielsa despite the Whites being unbeaten so far in the current campaign. Every Championship team knows that to get promotion out of the division, a good squad is needed.

Luke Ayling provides good competition with Stuart Dallas on the right-side of defence, whilst Tyler Roberts is an option in most positions along the frontline, although he did operate in a central midfield role towards the end of last season.

Leeds take on another unbeaten side in Swansea City on Saturday in their next Championship fixture, but before that the Whites face a familiar opponent in the EFL Cup as Stoke City travel to Elland Road.

The Verdict

Leeds supporters will be delighted to know that these two are returning to fitness. Ayling was impressive last season and Roberts scored a number of good goals.

They both would come into the 18 man squad and boost the squad depth that Leeds sometimes look short on. Bielsa has improved both players since his time being at the club, and he'll hope that when called upon they can kick on and help Leeds continue to surge forward at the top of the league.

It's likely that both players will be available for the fixtures after next month's international break. Leeds travel to Barnsley for the early kick-off after the international break and that can be a tricky game in Yorkshire.

If Leeds are to progress through into the third round of the EFL Cup on Tuesday, that could be a very good opportunity for players such as Ayling and Roberts to get some minutes away from the league in the future.
