Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich is reportedly eager to remain at Elland Road despite concerns over his contract situation, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, giving another boost to the club.

The Poland international's current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2020 with negotiations still on going amid rumours that Premier League Burnley will make a move for him during the January transfer window.

But the report from the YEP details that he will not be pushing for a move away and remains set on agreeing an extension to his stay with the Whites.

Klich first signed for Leeds in the summer of 2017, but after a slow start to life in the Championship, was sent out on loan for the second half of the season.

However, he has had an incredible revival under Marcelo Bielsa, netting ten times in 46 appearances last season and making a bright start to the current campaign as well.

The 29-year-old netted the second from the spot in a 2-0 win against Barnsley at Oakwell on Saturday to help his side back to the top of the second-tier.

The verdict

This is a real boost to Leeds United and their plans for the future.

Klich has been truly excellent over the past 12 months and has become an absolutely integral member of the club and the way Bielsa wants to play.

Losing him in January would be a huge blow so it is great news to hear that his desire is to stay in Leeds and it is hard to see anything else happening now.
