Angus Kinnear has jokingly backed Luke Ayling to choreograph some Leeds United goal celebrations adhering to the social distancing guidelines if the season can resume.

Leeds sit top of the pile in the Championship and pre-EFL postponement, Ayling was flying, scoring three goals in five games to guide the Whites back into a commanding position in the promotion race.

In addition to his goals, Ayling was impressing everyone with his unique goal celebrations, which has been a trademark of his since he scored his first for the club.

Quiz: Have Leeds United done these 15 things in the last 10 years? – Yes or no?

Should football resume after a two-month+ break, there’s a high chance that no celebrations will be allowed between players, as we saw in the German Bundesliga last weekend.

In the event of that, Kinnear has backed Ayling to lead Leeds’ unique opportunity to celebrate.

Writing in the Yorkshire Evening Post, he stated: “For Leeds United the breath-taking speed of our breakaway play should make us the poster boys of social distancing and I have absolute faith in Luke Ayling’s ability to choreograph some Covid compatible goal celebrations.”

When, or if, the season can resume, Leeds will be looking to turn a table-topping position into automatic promotion.

The Whites sit top of the pile in the Championship, a point clear of West Brom. However, more importantly, they are seven ahead of Fulham, who hold the biggest threat to the top-two at this stage.

The Verdict

Ayling is such a character and if this turns out to be Leeds’ promotion season, his goals and celebrations will go down in the club’s history.

Whether it was his chicken dance or his rock and roll celebration, Leeds fans love it and there’s definite hope they get to see a little bit more from Ayling in terms of goals and celebrations this season.
