Leeds United have announced that Gaetano Berardi will take part in Josh Warrington’s ring walk on Saturday evening at the First Direct Arena.

Warrington takes on Dennis Ceylan on Saturday evening in the IBF featherweight title eliminator, where he will be joined on his walk to the ring by Leeds defender, Berardi. Another of Leeds’ heroes will join Warrington and Berardi, Rugby League’s Danny McGuire, who has just helped the Leeds Rhinos to their eighth Super League title.

The victor of Saturday’s fight will be handed a title shot, with Warrington given the opportunity to force a fight with featherweight champion, Lee Selby, who has previously rejected the opportunity to fight Leeds’ champion boxer.

Berardi, who is a firm fan favourite at Elland Road, will become the latest player associated with Leeds United to take part in Warrington’s ring walk, following in the footsteps of Dominic Matteo and Vinnie Jones, two ex Leeds players.

The Swiss defender is likely to be part of Thomas Christiansen’s squad on Saturday, with Leeds visiting Ashton Gate to face Bristol City in the Sky Bet Championship. The Whites are looking to end a miserable run of form, which has seen them lose four of their last five fixtures.
