Gaetano Berardi has confirmed that he hasn’t seen Andrea Radrizzani’s comments on Leeds United’s playing squad, before stressing that he didn’t care what the owner had to say.

Radrizzani launched an attack on the commitment of Leeds’ squad earlier this week, with the club’s owner questioning Paul Heckingbottom’s playing squad.

Berardi was quizzed about Radrizzani’s comments ahead of Saturday’s clash with Sheffield Wednesday, with the Leeds defender giving a brutally honest reply to Phil Hay from the Yorkshire Evening Post:

So far this season, Berardi has been a regular feature in Leeds’ defence, with the Swiss defender featuring across the back-four.

Leeds’ play-off dream has gone up in smoke since the turn of the year, with the Whites managing to pick up just one victory since Boxing Day, which has left them 13th.

Berardi captained Leeds to a 2-2 draw against Reading last weekend at the Madejski Stadium, as the Whites’ wait for a second victory of the year continued.

This weekend Leeds return to Elland Road ahead of March’s international break, with Sheffield Wednesday visiting for a Yorkshire derby.

The Verdict

Berardi’s comments on Radrizzani’s rant are a huge surprise, as the owner’s criticism was directed at the playing squad at Elland Road.

Of course, Berardi does the right thing by not discussing what has been said in detail, but it is certainly a topic that needs to be discussed within the dressing room.

This weekend is the perfect opportunity for Leeds’ playing squad to make a statement to the owner.
